Biography


Professor Bahtiyor Eshchanov is a seasoned economist specializing in energy policy, demand modeling, and sustainable development. He earned his Doctorate in Applied Economics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2013, following a Master’s in Sustainable Technologies from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. His academic foundation began at Urgench State University with a degree in Economics. Over the years, he has contributed to both academia and the private sector, including roles at PwC Uzbekistan and the Fiscal Institute under the State Taxation Committee. Most recently, he served as a visiting scholar at the Ökoinstitut in Berlin. Currently, he heads the Economics Department at New Uzbekistan University, leading research on decarbonization and techno-economic analysis.
