By the Resolution No. 177 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 16, 2026, a decision has been adopted on the implementation of the “School of Rectors” program at New Uzbekistan University.

According to this resolution, starting from July 1, 2026, New Uzbekistan University will launch the “School of Rectors” program aimed at preparing candidates for rector (director) positions in state higher education institutions.

This initiative represents another important historic step toward building a pool of highly qualified leadership personnel in the national higher education system—leaders who possess modern vision, strategic thinking, strong competencies, and the ability to effectively manage reforms.

The program is designed to form a reserve of candidates for rector (director) positions in state higher education institutions. Admission will be based on an open competitive selection process, with applicants required to meet the following criteria:

  • At least 30 years of age;
  • Hold a minimum of a Master’s degree;
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in the higher education sector;
  • Including at least 2 years in managerial positions.

Within the program, participants will develop knowledge and practical skills in the following priority areas:

  • Academic, financial, scientific, and innovation management;
  • Artificial intelligence and digitalization;
  • Strategic management and transformation.

Each year, up to 80 participants will be admitted to the program. Upon completion, up to 40 top-performing participants will have the opportunity to undertake advanced training at leading international universities, including Harvard University (USA), as well as other prestigious institutions.

The “School of Rectors” program at New Uzbekistan University is not just a new educational initiative—it is a strategic platform aimed at shaping a new generation of leaders for the higher education system of New Uzbekistan.
