At New Uzbekistan University, an open dialogue with students was held on the occasion of Youth Day as part of the “Step Towards the Future” project and the “Meeting of Leaders and Youth” series. The meeting was led by Vice-Rector for Youth and Spiritual Affairs, Khilola Nazirova.
During the meeting, the preliminary results of a student reading habits survey were reviewed. The Vice-Rector also recommended several books for students to read, including Edward Said’s “Orientalism,” “Flowers for Algernon,” and Khayriddin Sultanov’s “Yaldo kechasi.”
Students were also given the opportunity to present their initiatives and ideas. Among the proposals were expanding the university library with more national and international fiction, increasing the number of books in the Karakalpak language, and organizing international trips through the Travel Club.
In response to these proposals, the Vice-Rector suggested organizing a scientific expedition dedicated to the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur and proposed launching international trips with a visit to the Turkistan historical complex in Kazakhstan.
The meeting, organized in honor of Youth Day, aimed to create an open platform for dialogue with students, support their initiatives, and further promote a culture of reading within the university community.
